About the class

This ~45 minute yoga asana class is intended to be a practice that prepares you for the Sunday pranayama and meditation session (offered immediately after). But it can be taken as its own class too! The postures, sequence and physical focus of each class is geared to guide the flow of prana (life force, energy) in support of feeling more physically connected, in a more harmonious inner state and more clear and calm in mind.

You can expect each class to be relatively simple and basic.

Most classes will include variations of sun salutations and postures will be held for ~3-5 breaths, but won’t be the same every class.

We won’t be working toward “peak postures” in this class.

Class energy: Feel good. Chill. Paced. Intentional. Grounding. Get into your body.

Physical focus: Lengthen spine. Ease tension. Balance nervous system. Stretch legs. Open hips.

rooted wisdom

It’s easier to sit and focus on our breath and sit in relative stillness if we’re not physically restless, tense, achy, or uncomfortable.

Traditionally, asana is the limb of yoga that prepares the body to sit in stillness. So all yoga asana can be thought of as being intended to help us meditate. We bend and flex the body to set ourselves up to sit for long periods of time.

This class is in honor of the ancient tradition and wisdom. It is also to serve the purpose of connecting with ourselves through the body, increasing pranic flow, and if you’re planning to take prana + med afterwards, to prepare for the subtle body practices.

These classes are currently being offered on a suggested donation basis. Any amount is appreciated.
