Yoga Fete | Yoga Party

Who: Urth Yoga Students and Teachers

What: Four hours of yoga and socializing. 

Fête [fet, feyt] noun: party, a festive celebration or entertainment, holiday, festival

Where: Urth Yoga, 2809 W Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026

Why: To celebrate the New Year with yoga and friends. To jumpstart your 2017 practice!

How:

(1) Look at the schedule below.

(2) Decide which segment(s) you want to participate in. You can choose one, more than one, or all of them.

(3) Be ready to practice 5 minutes before each segment. Jump in just before the segment you want to take. Jump out after the segment or stay in for the next segment.

(4) When you jump out of a segment, hang out in the lobby area and enjoy complimentary tea and snacks. Chat with old friends and make new friends.

(5) Then jump back into the next segment or just hang out and be social.

Yoga for Climbers Workshop: Relieving the "Boulder Hunch"

 

This workshop is becoming a SoCal Touchstone staple.  

Balance out your body in this 2-hour workshop focused on shoulder alignment.  Bouldering develops super strength in the shoulders, back, and upper arms, but usually at the expense of flexibility, alignment and freedom of movement.  Reconnect to your body's proper alignment through learning different yoga techniques and poses that can be used as sweet healing therapy for shoulder pain and support for your cross training.  We'll combat the "boulder hunch", keep ourselves out of injury's way, and wake up some hidden mobility so we can climbing.

2 Week Hip Opening Progression Series

Join me for 2 Saturdays in a row of hip opening!  Because the hips are such a deep, complex area of the body we will be breaking the full workshop up into two different days so we can also dive deeper into the poses and work into a physical progression!

 

Saturday Week 1:

10am-12pm

  •  briefly refreshing our understanding of the physical region
  • learning principles offered through the yoga practices that can allow us to create balance and alignment in the hips
  • working into basic to intermediate hip opening poses individually and with partners or groups

 Saturday Week 2:

10am-12pm

*attendance at first workshop is highly recommended as this is a progressive advancement*

  • using the knowledge gained in week 1's workshop, we will revisit the basic to intermediate hip openers as a warm up and physical refresher
  • begin working more deeply into the hips via deeper and more advanced hip opening yoga postures (modifications will always be available for all ranges of flexibility)
  • props for both supporting and deepening hip opening postures
  • learning more partner poses and hands-on adjustments to guide the body into the poses with more stability and freedom

You're invited for a full day of all things wellness with some of Los Angeles' best.  Show+Tell in Little Tokyo is a new creative space putting together a full day line-up of mindfulness, soulfulness, and community.  You can expect good, healthy foods + beverages, music, yoga, meditation, movement, music, local vendors + creations, and good vibes from AM to PM.

HIP OPENING WORKSHOP pt. 2

Join me for 2 hours in the yoga space at Cliffs we work on understanding, restoring, and stretching one of the most commonly tight parts of the body.  As this will be a sort-of follow up to the first hip opening workshop in June, you can expect to brush up on the things we went over then, while delving in a little bit more and working into new poses and adjustments to work the hip space further.  

*the first hip workshop is not a prerequisite to this workshop

*no yoga experience necessary to participate

*climbers & non-climbers welcome + encouraged
